In fact, I consider them the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had….and I have enjoyed many good cinnamon rolls; from the cinnamon rolls at the rather famous bakery in Nehalem, Oregon to the larger-than-life cinnamon rolls you can buy at mile post 18 on Highway 26. These just supplanted my previous personal favorite cinnamon rolls that I used to get at Maggie’s Buns in Forest Grove (if you remember Maggie’s, you know what I mean). Bette’s cinnamon rolls are baked to perfection so that the inside is just cooked enough to no longer be gooey, and the outside is still soft and not dried out. Each bite literally melts in your mouth. With the generous icing poured over each roll and optional nuts on top, I had to force myself to not eat an entire roll in one sitting (my 20s are way in the rear-view mirror so I can’t handle that many carbs at once).
My husband and I tried Bette’s do the first time today and our experience was wonderful! I had the cinnamon French toast and sausage , totally worth it, and he had over easy eggs and bacon. Both meals were delicious! I want to try all the pastries too! When those fresh cinnamon rolls came out, wow! We will absolutely be back every time we visit Hood River!
Awesome breakfast spot! Stopped on the way out of town after a weekend in the gorge. Everything was made well. Homemade fluffy biscuits, perfect bacon, and great crispy fried red potatoes (home fries). They brought me scrambled eggs instead of the over easy I asked for, but noticed the mistake and brought me the right eggs and a small maple bar (which was incredible) as a gesture. Servers friendly and on top of it. Plenty of coffee refills. Reasonable priced. Highly recommended!
If you are hungry or willing to share a plate, this is the absolute best place for breakfast. The famous cinnamon roll is for real and completely amazing. The skillet breakfasts are fresh, incredibly flavorful, and absolutely huge—honestly, all the entrees are generously portioned and packed with flavor. The staff is also friendly, helpful, and provides a wonderful personal touch. We will definitely come back for breakfast whenever we are close; it is well worth the drive.
We ate there last month when visiting the Columbia Gorge area in Oregon. Was recommended by a local resident. The food was outstanding! The service was fantastic. Absolutely would highly recommend!
Great breakfast spot with a nice view, located right in the heart of downtown. We found street parking easily and were seated within a minute. The staff took our order quickly and service was fast throughout. We had the crab eggs Benedict and the chicken breakfast with potatoes and fruit salad—both delicious. Coffee refills were unlimited, and we were offered them countless times. They also had a variety of baked goods that seemed popular, though we didn’t try any. The place had a warm, friendly, family-like vibe, and they were celebrating their 50th location anniversary while we were there.
We ❤️ Bette’s Place! We’ve been coming here for generations. Most recently, a friend and I had lunch and it was very tasty. The food portions were big and the servers were friendly. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and was pleased they used real strawberry puree! 🍓
I stayed in Hood River for a family event this spring, and since our hotel didn't offer a free breakfast, I'd been scoping out potential places to go eat. Bette's was at the top of the list, and I'm so glad we ended up going. The smoked salmon and brie scramble had caught my eye on the online menu, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. It wasn't too fishy, especially paired with the hashbrowns I got with it. The portion was massive, and I had plenty of leftovers to take home. It was almost better reheated, since the brie was able to melt a little more. Service was fast too, maybe because we were there after the main morning rush. I'm gonna have to go back sometime because there were at least 5 other things on the menu that also sounded amazing and I want to try them all!
From Portland and SF, I’ve tried many breakfast places in between. My mom and I came here during a quick day trip. We were not disappointed, it was as great as I hoped from reading these reviews—a delicious, homemade-style breakfast with fresh and tasty flavors! So glad we chose to come here. Great service as well!!
Great food, fast service. The fried eggs were actually over easy and the hash browns were really good. So much food for the price! Waitress was great! Cinnamon Rolls are a must have! I ordered the German sausage, eggs and hash browns, which came with two giant biscuits and gravy. Could not come close to eating it all. Will return next time I am in Oregon!
